Sustainability

We’re not trying to be perfect, just thoughtful.

currve

Sustainability here isn’t a trend. It’s simply the way we try to live: in rhythm with the land, respectful of its limits, and conscious of what we use and what we leave behind.

Our approach is small-scale, practical, and shaped by the traditions of rural Sri Lanka; from how we farm, to how we build, to how we share this space with others.

What That Looks Like:

Our electricity comes from solar power

We use energy-efficient lighting and appliances

Air conditioning and fridges are kept to a minimum, and powered with care

Drinking water is filtered from a local village source.

Our lake helps collect rainwater and supports irrigation naturally

The fish and wildlife enrich the water, which feeds back into the soil

We avoid plastic whenever we can

Guests are encouraged to bring refillable bottles; fresh drinking water is always available

We compost all organic waste, and burn remaining rubbish using traditional methods

Biodiversity

We do our best to care for the wildlife that calls this land home.

The estate includes over 200 large teak and mahogany trees and a 400-year-old banyan

These trees provide shelter for nesting eagles, giant squirrels, monkeys, and more

We follow a multi-cropping approach to reduce pests and support healthy soil — using natural relationships between plants instead of chemicals
